No Fuss Skincare Routine

By: Afribeauty Collective Skin

Looking for a simple, no fuss skincare routine? We understand that curating an effective yet simple skincare routine can be tricky and overwhelming, especially with all the products in the market.  At AfriBeauty, we believe adopting a simple and targeted approach to beauty can reap great results. Trimming down the number of products on your shelf, gives you room to assess how your skin responds to products so you know whether its effective or not.

From the outset, it is important to figure out your skin type. There are four basic skin types – dry skin, oily skin, combination skin, normal skin. Check this link for more info on skin types :https://www.essence.com/beauty/how-to-test-skin-type/

Thereafter, the process is simple. 3-5 simple steps can help you achieve your skincare goals. We have complied a list of African Beauty products you can use for each step. These products are suitable for normal to combination skin types.

Step 1 – Cleanse

Facial cleanser

Hidi Rose Gentle Brightening Face Wash & House of Coco Daily Cleanser

The rule of thumb is to cleanse your face twice a day. Washing your face for 60 seconds with warm water is ideal. Cleansing helps to unclog your pores and allows the rest products to penetrate your skin. Apply your cleanser twice or use an oil cleanser beforehand more a more thorough cleanse.

Step 2 – Moisturize

Afrakari Resurface + Restore Night Cream & Acen Beauty Rosè Creme Moisture Cream

Moisturizers are intended to add, lock in and seal moisture ensuring your skin remains soft and supple, key ingredients can help target specific issues like hyperpigmentation,  dullness or lack of hydration.

Step 3 – Protect (Day Time)

The first two steps are key for day and night routines. The last step, which is sun protection is very vital to the overall effectiveness of your skincare routine.  The sun can cause irreparable damage to your skin so its essential to protect the skin against UV rays which are known to cause skin cancer, premature aging etc. It’s important to reapply during the day, especially when you are outside exposed to the elements.

It’s important to apply sunscreen daily, regardless of the conditions – whether you’re indoors or outdoors and even when it’s raining. In the long term, your skin will thank you for it.

Additional products for your routine include exfoliators, toners and treatments

In general, toners help restore the skins pH balance,  some of them have hydrating or exfoliating benefits.

House of Coco Blemish Control Toner & Lulu and Marula Refreshing Face Tonic Mist

Treatments help to target your specific t skin concerns. For example, a niacinamide serum could be used to target hyperpigmentation and a serum with hyaluronic acid can assist with dehydration.

When it comes to skincare; always remember that sometimes less is more, and consistency is key.
