The Difference Between Dry and Dehydrated Skin

By: Afribeauty Collective Skin

There is a major difference between dry skin and dehydrated skin. At first glance, the terms seem like they describe the same thing – dry skin. This is generally because they share some similarities but at closer inspection, they are completely different skin concerns with unique underlying causes

What Is A Dry Or Dehydrated Skin?

If you have dry skin, your skin lacks oil and when you use moisturisers or lotions your skin soaks it up quickly. Dehydrated skin is a skin condition in which the skin lacks moisture or water. It could be due to diet (drinking water, too much alcohol), the weather, makeup or incorrect product use.

All skin types are susceptible to dehydration.
